Cardigan Castle Needs Your Help This Summer!

Cardigan Castle has to raise £150,000 from the community in order to achieve the £11million European funding to continue with the restoration project. We have a number of fund-raising events this summer and are looking for people to help out in a variety of ways, including: 1 – 5 July Biblathon: As people read the Bible around the clock from cover to cover, we are looking for people to make refreshments, help time-keep and take sponsorship entry fees 23 July – 20 August Archaeology Dig at the castle: people can help with digging, cleaning, sorting and recording, and making refreshments, or just come along to watch and learn from the archaeologists 28 July Coffee morning at the Guildhall: volunteers needed to help serve teas & coffees, sell raffle tickets and entertain the crowds 1 August Cardigan Show: we will have a table at the show, selling raffle tickets and ducks for the duck race on 11 August and need general help manning the stand 4-11 August National Eisteddfod: if anyone is going to the Eisteddfod and can spare an hour to help man Cardigan Castle’s stand, please get in touch! 11 – 12 August River & Food Festival: help on the castle stand, selling raffle tickets, serving teas & coffees (ideally dressed up in medieval clothes!). Also, if anyone’s interested in holding or joining craft lessons (e.g. knitting and sewing), please let us know Contact: 01239 615131

David Quarrell walking the circumference of Wales for Cancer Research

The lovely David Quarrell and his wife Tess stayed with us for a night this week. David is aiming to be the first person to walk the whole of the All Wales Coast Path and also the link down Offa's Dyke from North to South. All money raised is going to Cancer Research and is in memory of his father Gerry Quarrell who died last year of cancer and who helped create the All Wales Coast path. You can follow David's adventure and donate online here. http://walkwales1027.com/donate.htm If you are a B&B on his route and would like to donate a nights accommodation please contact David and Tess asap.
